Even though DOGust is almost coming to a close, there are so many ways to continually celebrate your pups even when it isn’t a national month long holiday dedicated to canines! For those of you who didn’t know, DOGust 1st was a very special day for rescue pups; the North Shore Animal League America made this day the universal birthday for all shelter dogs with an unknown birthday. How PAW-some! Yogi-dog took this month as an opportunity to celebrate our Yogi-dog pups at home AND the wonderful shelters and rescue organizations that are doing their best to make sure these homeless pets find their FUR-ever homes!
There are so many ways that you can still do your part in making sure dogs in local shelters and rescues have the ability to celebrate DOGust even after September comes! We have come up with a bunch of different ways that you can still help furry friends in need! FOSTER Not ready to make the full time commitment to adopting a pet of your own? No worries! Fostering a pet helps just as much and prepares them for their fur-ever family! VOLUNTEER Since shelters are non-profit organizations, all their “workers” volunteer their time and energy into the rescue efforts and ensuring the animals get the best care possible. Shelters and rescues are ALWAYS looking for volunteers to join their team! And they can always use more help too! DONATE If you can’t donate your time as much as you would like, shelters and rescues are always looking for product donations. You can contact your local shelter and see what they need the most of, however, they are almost always accepting food, blankets, toys, and TREATS! Rescues are especially appreciative when they receive Yogi-dog as one of their treat donations because the yogurt benefits their shelter pups in SO many ways! For those picky eaters (and those that are not) Yogi-dog is a pooch-pleasing treat that is SO beneficial to their health- all natural with two times MORE probiotics than what’s found in human yogurt! ADOPT #AdoptDon’tShop! So many rescues and shelters are having an overcrowding issue following the pandemic. Every year, millions of dogs are being euthanized in the United States. When you adopt a pet, you are saving a life! GIVE YOUR OWN PUPS EXTRA LOVE Along with helping pups in need, continue to celebrate with your own pups even after DOGust ends as well! You never need an excuse to treat your special friend to a new toy, treat (their favorite flavor of yogi-dog of course) or take them to their favorite park. Your dogs will ALWAYS love you unconditionally so be sure to give them that same energy right back constantly! As Yogi-dog moms and dads, we all want our fur-babies to stay healthy and live life to the fullest. Learning about pet health and wellness, including food, treats, and recipe ideas, are a great way to stay on top of PAW-sitive health trends!
First and foremost, we have to ensure that our furry best friends are getting the proper diet to support their nutritional needs. It is important to remember that each breed of dog is different so there are MANY differences with regards to what they eat, how much they eat, and what type of diet works best for their genetic predisposition. Have specific questions regarding your dog's diet and nutritional needs? Don’t shy away from consulting with your vet about what the best foods are for your pooch! Especially when put on a special diet, the routine is not always easy to manage and they will be more than happy to assist you! When it comes to dog treats, you also want to make sure you are looking for the best dog treats you can find; it’s important to choose something that’s verified and proven to be nutritious while also making sure it is yummy and your pooch would want to eat it. You can do your homework but maybe we can provide a little jumpstart to your research! Our Yogi-dog yogurt comes in 3 AMAZING flavors that can be eaten alone, as a food topper, or as an ingredient in your pups favorite homemade treat! If you are looking for some healthy homemade treat options, be sure to check out the “Recipe” page on our website! Yogi-dog has 8 active, live cultures which is nearly TWO TIMES the amount of probiotics than any human yogurt has! All three yogurts are also all natural with absolutely nothing artificial and they all taste SO good! How can you beat yummy health benefits? Don’t believe us that the pooch-pleasing treat is THAT good? Share a cup with your pup! It’s human-grade so that you can love the treat as much as your fur-babies do (maybe even a little more)! Stay PAW-some Yogi Dog Moms, Dads, and Canines! Not just nutritionally but in ALL ways! Hey Yogi-dog Moms and Dads!
Let’s continue celebrating DOGUST by learning how to best communicate with our canine companions! Do you feel like you are struggling to reach a happy medium with training your pup? You are definitely not alone… especially coming out of the pandemic and returning to life as normal, dog paw-rents are admittingly struggling! Training can be very time consuming and frustrating, but once you and your pup make progress together, it will strengthen your bond forever! Paw-sitive reinforcement-based training allows dog moms and dads to dive deeper into the science of behavior and generate a better result in their canines, not only transforming the behavior of the dogs but also the bonds and relationships between pups and their paw-rents as well! Where can every day dog parents get started with this life-changing form of training on their own? Here are a few tips to enforce PAW-sitive reinforcement behavior! 1. Reward and praise your pup Haven’t you heard that quote, “hounds follow those who feed them”? Well, it's true! Pups, like humans, feel good when given praise- especially when it comes to a reward of a treat! What better way to treat your pup than with a yummy treat that ALSO has many health benefits as well? Reward your pup with ANY of the three Yogi-dog flavors for a pooch-pleasing treat that will yield positive results in their behavior as well! 2. Spend time together Like any human, dogs need to know that you care or else they will feel neglected. Be sure to take a little extra time out of every day to give your pup some extra cuddles or take them on an extra long walk! 3. Keep up with the training Most importantly, to make sure your pup is retaining all the training, be consistent! Think of it this way, if you were taught how to do something new, you would want to practice it a couple of times to make sure you’ve got it right, right? Our pups are the same way! Be sure to keep up with training to make sure your pup is retaining their newly learned skills! Remember to have a paw-some day and to keep checking back for more educational resources! In honor of this special month dedicated to our furry best friends, Yogi-dog encourages you to celebrate your pups a little extra! Maybe take a longer walk, spend the day exploring the beach or a lake, bring them for a pup-playdate and, of course, treat them to some Yogi-dog! Made with a dog’s health and happiness in mind, Yogi-dog is one of the most nutritious and innovative dog treats to come along in years! The inspiration behind Yogi-dog actually comes from the brand's mascot, a Golden Retriever named Lexi! When creating this paw-some treat, Yogi-Dog founder, Dee Marie, followed the Golden Retriever Rule with a healthy addition, “Feed your dogs with the healthiest treats you can provide to them!" Lexi loves all three paw-some flavors but she goes absolutely MUTTS over the Yogi-dog cheddar flavor! Who knew that such a great tasting treat could be this healthy? It’s time to get ready for National Dog Day on August 26! Dogs nationwide will be celebrating their day with their paw-rents and fur-friends! Lexi is having a paw-ty to celebrate! Treat of choice? Yogi-dog of course! Having a yogi-dog inspired paw-ty?
